LX 9024 NOTE SHEET for TR-421B

The LX-9024 harness is design to aid in bench testing the TR-421B Transponder and CD-422A/B Transponder Control Display. The harness is wired for the CD-422A/B control with test points for the controller and TR-421B Transponder. For the 429 buss there is a 9 pin DE-9S connector on the cable accessory box to input customer supplied 429 buss signals.

The harness is used with the Linaire LX-3 test panel.

The LX-3 test panel STBY/OFF switch connects the 28V DC power to the units under test. The LX-3 test panel meters the voltage and current of unit under test.

The LX-3 C-Mode toggle switches provide for altitude code input to the transponder. For mode B operation select Mode B on the LX-3 test panel.

To avoid confusion the IDENT, STBY/ON, A TEST, C TEST, and A, C, D mode switches on the LX-3 panel are not wired to work with this unit. The units control display supplies the signals and the panel switches would override the control display’s input to the transponder.

The cable accessory box on the harness has the following switches:
Heater for display controls with heater option.
SDI 1 /SDI 2 strap connection for system 1 or system 2 identification.
XSPONDER 1 /2 switches signals for testing control display as #1 or #2.
28VDC/5VDC LAMPS set for correct lamp voltage (note: 28VDC comes from panel source and 5VDC comes from 5VDC power pack included with harness or customer’s supply.

The data, clock and enable signals can be monitored at DATA, CLOCK, and ENABLE tip jacks on the cable box. A switch is provided to redirect the transponder’s display output and power supply enable for the transponder to the display control inputs #1 or inputs #2. This allows testing the display control in a dual transponder setup.

When using the 429 tuning buss connect it using a DE-9P to the connector on the cable box. The units 429 output can be monitored at the tip jacks on the cable box and is also available at the cable box connector.
