LV 6125 NOTES

 


CUSTOMER SUPPLIED PARTS NEEDED FOR USE WITH LV-6125:

PRECISION TRACK SELECTOR Collins 479V-3 (see Collins maintenance manual for connection)

RMI 332C - 2 or - 4 or - 8 or - 10 ( The 332C-10 can be connected to the LV-6 panel front with the LinAire LV-6126 cable)

COMPASS SIMULATOR Collins 477L-1 or equivalent

CTL-32 Control Head (needed for VIR 30, VIR 32 / 33 serial operation)

TEST PANEL CONTROL HEAD (one of the below)
LVC - 6 provides for parallel frequency control of the VIR 30 / 31 / 32

LVC 8025 provides for the connection of a CTL-32 serial controller or a serial buss simulator for serial frequency control of the VIR 32 / 33. (LVC 8025 is an adapter plate & harness)

SELECT 28V of 14/28V switch on the LV-6 panel
The LV-6 supplies the power to the units under test with the LV-6 panel ON.
Select NORM on the LV-6 panel for units without the ROTOR MOD and ROTOR with the MOD.

P1 - 41 NORM (28 VDC POWER) NORMAL POWER LOCATION
P1 - 18 ROTOR (28 VDC POWER) UNITS WITH ROTOR MOD 

To activate the VIR 32/33 use the LV-6 REMOTE ON switch or if using a CTL-32 controller set the REMOTE switch to OFF and the CTL-32 will activate the unit.

VIR PIN  
P1 - 10     LV-6 REMOTE ON switch, ON position activates unit
                 OFF position allows CTL-32 to activate unit


PARALLEL / SERIAL FREQUENCY CONTROL 
Select Parallel when using a LinAire LVC-6 control head.
Select Serial when using a Collins CTL-32 control.

SERIAL DATA SIGNALS
The CTL-32 supplies serial data to the VIR 32/33 through the LVC-8025 adapter. This adapter provides additional test switches and tip jack access to the CTL-32's signal and control lines.
If using a data buss simulator connect to the HP connector on the LVC-8025.

OBS TEST
Use a 479V-3 track selector or ARINC Indexed digital OBS connected to the LV-6 P6 on rear of panel. 
See Collins Maintenance Manual for proper connection of 479V - 3.

RMI & COMPASS SIGNAL SOURCE

Connect a compass simulator ( Collins 477L-1 or equivalent) to P7 on the rear of the LV-6 test panel.  TO PATCH SIGNALS THROUGH LV-6 FROM P7 SELECT EXT of COMPASS EXT/OFF & SINE/COSINE EXT/OFF LV-6 switches.

ALTERNATE RMI connection
Using a LinAire RMI cable connect one of the following RMI's to P4 (RMI) on the front of LV-6 test panel and select OFF of SINE/COSINE EXT/OFF switch.
Collins 332C - 10 Driven by the OBI sine/cosine signals
Collins 332C - 8 Driven by the VIR 31 RMI driver Relative Bearing X' Y'

INDICATORS
The testing of the system's navigational indicators with the receiver unit maybe performed by using a LinAire LVI Indicator cable to connect one of several indicator units. All needles and flags that are directly driven and most internal lighting will function. The units with OBS resolver will supply OBS signals.

METER DRIVE CIRCUITS TEST
Without an indicator connected select Flag Load 5 (200 ohm) & Deviation Load 5 (200 ohm) and select circuit to meter on the LV-6 panel.

With an indicator connected select Flag Load 4 (250ohm) & Deviation Load 4 (250ohm) and select circuit to meter on the LV-6 panel..

The TO - FROM Flag current is metered by the LV-6 panel meter. To convert this reading to millivolts simply double the reading and read as millivolts.

Measure at Phone Jack by selecting NAV of Nav / Mkr Audio switch & Phones of Speaker / Phones switch. Read LV-6 panel meter for RMS voltage (600 ohm load) or connect a watt meter to the Phone Jack. Monitor with LV-6 panel Speaker by selecting Speaker of Speaker / Phones switch.
