INSTALLATION & OPERATION

PLEASE READ INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE ATTEMPTING OPERATION OF THIS PANEL

2.10 INSTALLATION

2.11 The model LT 6 Test Panel measures 7” H X 19” W X 5.25” D. The panel is compatible with all standard relay racks and cabinets.

2.12 Power connections are made via four lug terminal strip located on the rear of the panel.

Terminal No. 1 DC 28 Volts

Terminal No. 2 DC 14 Volts

Terminal No. 3 AC 115 Volts 400Hz note: 50-400Hz required for the panel meter operation
If unit under test does not require 115VAC 400 Hz then 50-60Hz maybe connected.

Terminal No. 4  Power Ground

2.13   It is recommended that a minimum size of 14-gauge wire be used for the DC power and Ground connections to the panel from the power supply.

3.10 OPERATION

3.11 The ON/OFF switch, in the ON position, connects all input voltages to the harness connectors. The Panel Power lamp lights in the ON position.

The REMOTE ON/OFF switch turns ON the unit under test when remote operation is available.

The DC fuse is a 10 amp standard 3AG type and is provided for protection of the DC power.

The 115VAC fuse is a 1-amp standard 3AG type and is provided for protection of the 115VAC power.  The 115VAC power is primarily for panel meter power.

NOTE: ALWAYS REFER TO THE MAINTENANCE MANUAL OF THE UNIT UNDER TEST FOR THE PROPER FUSE SIZE.

3.12 CONTROL HEAD

The LT 6 uses the same LinAire control heads as the LT 5, however, the LT 6 also provides for the connection of serial controllers for the units under test by optional cables from LinAire. See the harness note sheet for control head type.

3.13 METERING

The LT 6 uses a digital panel meter to monitor the DC voltage, RT current draw, IND current draw, audio RMS of the Speaker - COMM - AUX channels, Nav Dev / Flag outputs, GS Dev / Flag outputs and To-From Flag.

3.14 METER LOADING

The LT 6 provides 0 to 5 1K-ohm-loads for the Navigation and Glide Slope deviation and flag circuits. A 200-ohm meter load is applied to the TO-FROM Flag.

3.15 AUDIO INPUTS

MICROPHONE

MIKE JACK  For connection of a carbon microphone or powered microphone.

MIKE   NORM/TEST   switch in NORM position connects mike audio to LA connector pin 3 and to Mike Com/Intercom LT 6 panel switch then to LT panel P1 main connector.

MIKE KEY Line connects to LA connector pin 4 and Mike Com/Intercom LT 6 panel switch then to P1 main connector.

Microphone testing provided when Mike Norm/Test switch is in Test.

3.16 AUDIO OUTPUTS

SPEAKER  output is connected as balanced line to P1 & LA connector.  The low side is grounded in cable when single ended output is required.

Panel speaker connects to speaker channel with SPKR/PHONE in SPKR.

Panel speaker connects to amplified phones with SPKR/PHONE in PHONE.

Test point jacks allow monitoring of Panel SPEAKER CHANNEL. Panel meter measures the Speaker  and Phone RMS voltage.

COMM PHONE / AUX  The Phone or low level COMM or AUX output is selected by the COM/AUX switch then routed through a Volume control pot to the Phone Jack.  If no headphone is plugged into the phone jack then the phone audio will be available at the LT 6 panel speaker when the Phone channel is selected. Test point jacks allow monitoring of low level COM and AUX audio outputs. Panel meter measures the COM and AUX audio RMS voltage.

INTERCOM  This signal inputs at the AUX audio if no NAV audio is available. If both intercom and NAV audio are available the location of the intercom input will be shown in the cable’s note sheet.

AUX AUDIOS  This input used for Nav audio, intercom audio, sidetone, or other aux audio outputs. If both intercom and NAV audio are available the location of the intercom input will be shown in the cable’s note sheet.

3.17 OBS Signals  The OBS signals can be applied to the panel in several ways: A precision track selector can be connected to P6 on the rear of the panel. An indicator can be connected via LinAire cable to the panel and then use the OBS signals from the indicator. It is also possible to patch in the OBS signals at the panel tip jacks.

4.00 DETAIL OF SWITCHES & TIP JACKS

UUT = UNIT UNDER TEST

POWER ON switch in the ON position applies power to UUT.

14/28 VOLT switch  In the14 position it selects 14VDC to UUT.  In the 28 position it selects 28VDC to UUT.

REMOTE ON switch   In the ON position grounds the Remote On Line and turns on UUT.

KEY switch   In the ON position grounds the panel Mike Key Line.  Also provides ground to the Mike COM / I/COM switch and Mike jack key line P8-4

MIKE COM / I/COM switch   In the COM position it connects the panel mike key line to COM MIKE.  and connects panel mike audio to COM MIKE audio.  In the I/COM position it connects panel mike key line to Intercom Key and connects the panel mike audio to Intercom Mike audio.

MIKE NORM/TEST switch  In the NORM position it connects Mike Jack audio to panel mike line.  In the TEST position it connects Mike Jack audio to the mike audio input of the phone amplifier then to the panel speaker and phone jack.  This position is used to test microphones and headsets.

AUX/COM switch  In the AUX position it connects low level audio outputs to panel phone line.  In the COM position it connects low level Comm audio output to panel phone line.

DISABLE/SQUELCH switch  In the DISABLE position it connects ground to the squelch disable line.  In the SQUELCH position it opens the line.

SQUELCH POT controls squelch level on those units with remote squelch control.

VOLUME POT controls audio levels on the LT 6 panel. Always set full CW when measuring audio output levels.

SPEAKER / MUTE / PHONES switch  In the SPEAKER position it connects the panel speaker HI and LO to the speaker channel and loads the speaker channel to 4 ohms.  The MUTE Center Off position disconnects the panel speaker and load.  And the PHONES position connects the panel amplified phones channel to the panel speaker.

SERIAL / PARALLEL switch  The SERIAL position selects serial data tuning operation of the UUT and  the PARALLEL position selects parallel data tuning operation of the UUT.

ILS / NAV switch  In the ILS position it grounds the ILS energize line and the NAV position removes the ground on the line.

DEVIATION switch  Applies from none to 5 1K-ohm-loads across the Deviation outputs.

FLAG switch  Applies from none to 5 1K-ohm-loads across the Flag outputs.

METER switch

DC VOLT  Measures the DC volts applied to the LT 6 panel.

RT AMPS  Measures the current draw of the R/T Unit Under Test.

IND AMPS  Measures the current draw of the Indicator connected to the panel.

SPKR  Measures the RMS voltage on the Speaker Channel of the LT 6 panel.

COM  Measures the RMS voltage of the COM or Phone outputs of the UUT.

AUX  Measures the RMS voltage of the low level outputs of the UUT (sidetone, intercom and aux audio).

NAV FLAG  Measures the mV DC across the load of the Nav Flag lines.
