LT 3001 Notes

CABLE NAME:  LT3001

UNIT UNDER TEST:  KX 155, KX 165

ADVANTAGES OF USING NEW LT 6 PANEL AND HARNESS:

Tip jack access to the navigation deviation and flag outputs including the autopilot output lines, the DME serial tuning bus and OBI serial signal lines.  The ability to connect and operate the navigation indicators, used by the units, to the LT 6 panel using the LVI series indicator harnesses.  (see LV 6 harness list for indicator cables)  The Comm and Nav low level audio can be monitored by the LT 6 panel speaker and measured by the panel digital meter.

POWER REQUIREMENTS:

The KX 155 and KX 165 run on either 14VDC or 28VDC power.  Check the King maintenance manual for correct operating voltage.

OPERATIONAL NOTE: because these units share the power input pins with the Remote Transfer function pins a 14/28 volt select switch is located on the Linaire test harness.  You MUST select the correct voltage on this switch and also on the LT 6 panel 14/28 volt switch for correct operation.

SWITCH IDENTIFICATION:

14/28 VOLT        Panel switch:  Selects operating voltage of Unit Under Test
14/28 VOLT
Cable switch:  Selects power input pins of Unit Under Test

POWER/OFF      Connects selected DC power to Unit Under Test

TEST/NORM    Select NORM and leave in NORM except when testing a mike or headset.

ICOM/COM     Select COM to apply LT 6 panel Mike Jack to Comm units mike input.  Select ICOM to apply Mike Jack to the units Intercom input.

AUX/COM       Select COM to apply Comm Audio or AUX for NAV Audio to panel phone channel.  Output is available at LT 6 panel Phone Jack and at panel speaker when selected.

SPEAKER/MUTE/PHONES

Select PHONE for amplified Comm/Nav Audio in the LT 6 panel speaker or MUTE to disconnect the panel speaker.  No high level audio output is available on these units so SPEAKER outputs nothing.

KEY/OFF        Select KEY when not using a mike to key the Comm unit under test.

VOLUME       Set to full CW when measuring the COM or AUX (nav) Audio RMS or when using a watt meter at the phone jack.  Otherwise, adjust for comfortable level for ears.

SQUELCH     The Squelch Adjust is not used on these units under test.

SQUELCH DISABLE
Select the DISABLE position to ground the squelch test line.(P401-1)

DEVIATION LOAD

Select 5 loads.   The LT 6 NAV DEV L and R lines will have a total of five 1000 ohm loads.  If the unit under test has a Glideslope receiver place a 332 ohm 1% resistor across the LT 6 GS DEV U and D tip jacks for a total of eight 1000 ohm loads.

FLAG LOAD    Select 3 loads.  The LT 6 NAV DEV L and R lines will have a total of three 1000 ohm loads.  If the unit under test has a Glideslope receiver place a 165 ohm 1%  resistor across the LT 6 GS FLAG + and - tip jacks for a total of nine 1000 ohm loads.

TO-FROM        Flag load depends on the customer set-up of the LT 6 panel for OBS signals.  If using a precision track selector or a indicator with TO-FROM flag you have one load connected and with the LT 6 Meter switch set to TO-FROM the panel adds one load.  To test a three loads you may need either no extra loads or add a 100 ohm 1% resistor (two loads) or 200 ohm 1% resistor (one load) across the LT 6 TO-FROM tip jacks.

S1 SWITCH    Used as the NAV Transfer button, switch to position P1 and back to OFF.

S2 SWITCH    Used as the Comm Transfer button, switch to position P1 and back to OFF.

PANEL METER    Meter can be used to monitor the following: DC Volts applied to the unit, DC Current draw of unit, RMS Volts of Comm audio, RMS Volts of AUX (nav) Audio, Nav Deviation and Flag outputs, Glideslope Deviation and Flag outputs and the TO-FROM flag.
