For details in testing the KMA 26 Audio Amplifier/Intercom/Marker Beacon Receiver referenced in the following notes.

The L 240 Panel must be modified according to MOD# 920323 (see attached MOD notice)

TEST OPERATIONS
L-240 Panel Power switch ON applies power to panel.
L-240 Phone Power switch On applies power to KMA phone section.
Switch the L-240 Speaker Power switch to On applies power to KMA speaker/marker section.

KMA 26 manual test steps are shown in [ ] ‘s.

[5.2.3.1] HEADPHONE OUTPUTS
A
. Test Panel and Equipment Setup:

2. Apply oscillator output to L-240 Audio Input # 1. Select L-240 audio input TR1.
Select L-240 Output to Phone and select pilot phone on cable accessory box.

3. Connect load resistor to L-240 Audio Output tip jacks.

4. Connect the Distortion Analyzer to the L-240 Phone Jack.

C. Repeat step "B" for the remaining Headphone outputs.
2. Copilot - Select L-240 Output to Phone and select copilot phone on cable accessory box.

3. Pass 1 phone - Select L-240 Output to INT PH. This connects your load resistor to the Passenger phones output.

4. Connect the Distortion Analyzer to the cable accessory box at PASS PHONE jacks 1 thru 4 and GND.

D. Setup same as step A above.

F. Set up same as step C sections 3 and 4

H. Apply the oscillator to the L-240 MIKE VOLTAGE jacks.
Select L-240 FUNCTION switch to position 1.
Select copilot phone on cable accessory box.
Select L-240 OUTPUT switch to PHONE.
Connect Distortion Analyzer to L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks.

J. Apply the oscillator to the L-240 MIKE VOLTAGE jacks.
Select L-240 FUNCTION switch to position 2.
Pass 1 phone - Select L-240 Output to INT PH. This will connect your load resistor to the Passenger phones output.
Connect the Distortion Analyzer to the cable accessory box at PASS PHONE 1 and ground jacks.

3. Connect the Distortion Analyzer to IC OUT PASS jacks on cable accessory box.

A 1K-ohm load is across the IC OUT PASS jacks on cable accessory box.

E. A 1K ohm load is across the IC OUT CREW jacks on cable accessory box.
Connect the Distortion Analyzer to IC OUT CREW jacks on cable accessory box.
Apply the oscillator output to L-240 AUDIO INPUT 2 jacks.
Select L-240 MIKE/GEN switch to MIKE.
Select L-240 FUNCTION switch to position 1.

[5.2.3.5] VOICE RECORDER OUTPUT

2. Apply the oscillator output to L-240 AUDIO INPUT 1 jacks
Select L-240 AUDIO/NORMAL switch to NORMAL.
Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT switch to TR1.

3. A 5K-ohm load is across the CVR output.

4. Connect the Distortion Analyzer to the Voice Recorder jacks on the side of the accessory box.

C. Apply the oscillator output to L-240 AUDIO INPUT 2.
Select L-240 MIKE/GEN to MIKE.
Select L-240 FUNCTION switch to position 1.

[5.2.3.6] MICROPHONE OUTPUTS

2. Apply the oscillator output to L-240 AUDIO INPUT 2.
Select L-240 MIKE/GEN to MIKE.
Select L-240 FUNCTION switch to position 1. (Pilot)

3. Connect the Distortion Analyzer to COM-MIKE OUT 1 on the cable accessory box.
Select L-240 AUDIO/OFF/TEST switch to OFF. (Note: output to L240 panel speaker can be selected by TEST position of switch.)

C. Select L-240 KEY/OFF switch to KEY. ( shorts PTT)

D. Apply the oscillator output to L-240 AUDIO INPUT 2.
Select L-240 MIKE/GEN to MIKE.
Select L-240 FUNCTION switch to position 2 (copilot)
Select L-240 KEY/OFF switch to KEY. ( shorts PTT).

E. Connect the Distortion Analyzer to COM-MIKE OUT 2 on the cable accessory box.
Select L-240 AUDIO/OFF/TEST switch to OFF. (Note: output to L240 panel speaker can be selected by TEST position of switch.)

F. Apply the oscillator output to L-240 AUDIO INPUT 2.
Select L-240 MIKE/GEN to MIKE.
Select L-240 FUNCTION switch to position 1. (Pilot)
Select L-240 KEY/OFF switch to KEY. ( shorts PTT).

G. Connect the Distortion Analyzer to COM-MIKE OUT 3 on the cable accessory box.
Select L-240 AUDIO/OFF/TEST switch to OFF. (Note: output to L240 panel speaker can be selected by TEST position of switch.)

H. Apply the oscillator output to L-240 AUDIO INPUT 2.
Select L-240 MIKE/GEN to MIKE.
Select L-240 FUNCTION switch to position 2 (copilot)
Select L-240 KEY/OFF switch to KEY. ( shorts PTT).

I. MIKE KEY OUT TEST Substitute the following tests.

1. COM 1 MIC KEY OUT:
Turn the MIC selector switch to COM1.
Select L-240 FUNCTION switch position 1. (Pilot)
Select L-240 KEY/OFF to OFF
Observe L-240 KEY Lamp OFF.
Select L-240 KEY/OFF to KEY.
Observe L-240 KEY Lamp ON.
Turn the MIC selector switch to COM2.
Observe L-240 KEY Lamp OFF.
Turn the MIC selector switch to COM3.
Observe L-240 KEY Lamp OFF.

2. COM 2 MIC KEY OUT:
Turn the MIC selector switch to COM2.
Select L-240 FUNCTION switch position 2. (Copilot)
Select L-240 KEY/OFF to OFF
Observe L-240 KEY Lamp OFF.
Select L-240 KEY/OFF to KEY.
Observe L-240 KEY Lamp ON.
Turn the MIC selector switch to COM1.
Observe L-240 KEY Lamp OFF.
Turn the MIC selector switch to COM3.
Observe L-240 KEY Lamp OFF.

3. COM 3 MIC KEY OUT:
Turn the MIC selector switch to COM3.
Select L-240 FUNCTION switch position 3. (Copilot)
Select L-240 KEY/OFF to OFF
Observe L-240 KEY Lamp OFF.
Select L-240 KEY/OFF to KEY.
Observe L-240 KEY Lamp ON.
Turn the MIC selector switch to COM1.
Observe L-240 KEY Lamp OFF.
Turn the MIC selector switch to COM2.
Observe L-240 KEY Lamp OFF.

M
. COM3 HOT MIC TEST:
Turn the MIC selector switch to COM3.
Apply the oscillator output to L-240 AUDIO INPUT 2.
Select L-240 KEY/OFF to OFF.
Select L-240 MIKE/GEN to MIKE.
Select L-240 FUNCTION switch to position 3. (Copilot)
Ground the HOT MIKE jack on the cable accessory box.
Select L-240 AUDIO/OFF/TEST switch to OFF. (Note: output to L240 panel speaker can be selected by TEST position of switch.)
Check for COM 3 audio output at COM-MIKE-OUT 3 and GND jacks.
Observe L-240 KEY Lamp ON.

 

[5.2.3.7] AUDIO INPUT SELECTORS
Substitute the following tests.

NOTE: with no plug in the PHONE jack the phone is loaded 600 ohm.

A. Test Panel and Equipment settings:
2. Apply the oscillator output to the L-240 AUDIO INPUT 1 jacks.
Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT switch TR1. (Com 1)

3. Select L-240 OUTPUT switch to PHONE.
Select PILOT PHONE on cable accessory box.
Connect a 150 ohm load resistor to L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks.
Connect the Distortion Analyzer to the L-240 PHONE jack if not then connect 200 ohm load resistor to L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks. (=150 ohm load)

D. Repeat step 3 above for the following Audio Inputs:
Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT switch TR2 (COM 2)
Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT switch TR3 (COM 3)
Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT switch REC1 (Nav 1)
Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT switch REC2 (Nav 2)
Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT switch REC3 (** ADF)

Apply the oscillator output to the L-240 AUDIO INPUT 4 jacks
Select AUDIO/NORMAL switch to AUDIO
Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT switch REC4 (DME)
Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT switch REC5 (AUX)

Apply the oscillator output to the MKR AUDIO jacks on the cable accessory box.

[5.2.3.8] UNMUTED INPUTS
A
. Test Panel and Equipment settings:

2. Apply the oscillator output to the L-240 AUDIO INPUT 4 jacks.
Select AUDIO/NORMAL switch to AUDIO.
Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT switch to TR1. (Unmuted audio 1)
Select CABIN 4 OHM on accessory cable box.
Select L-240 OUTPUT switch to SPKR.

Connect the Distortion Analyzer to the L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks.

B. Select L-240 FUNCTION switch position 1. (Pilot)
Select PILOT PHONE on the cable accessory box.
Select the L-240 OUTPUT switch to PHONE.

Use the L-240 KEY switch to short the PTT.

C. Connect a 150 ohm load resistor to L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks.
Connect the Distortion Analyzer to the L-240 PHONE jack if not then connect 200 ohm load resistor to L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks. (=150 ohm load)

NOTE: with no plug in the PHONE jack the phone is loaded 600 ohm.

Use the L-240 KEY switch to short the PTT.

D. Select COPILOT PHONE on the cable accessory box.
Repeat step C above.
Select the L-240 OUTPUT switch to INT PHONE.
Repeat step C above.

E. Apply the oscillator output to the L-240 AUDIO INPUT 4 jacks.
Select AUDIO/NORMAL switch to AUDIO.
Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT switch to TR2. (Unmuted audio 2)
Select CABIN 4 OHM on accessory cable box.
Select L-240 OUTPUT switch to SPKR.

Connect the Distortion Analyzer to the L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks.

Select L-240 FUNCTION switch position 1. (Pilot)
Select PILOT PHONE on the cable accessory box.
Select the L-240 OUTPUT switch to PHONE.

Use the L-240 KEY switch to short the PTT.

Connect a 150 ohm load resistor to L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks.

Connect the Distortion Analyzer to the L-240 PHONE jack if not then connect 200 ohm load resistor to L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks. (=150 ohm load)

NOTE: with no plug in the PHONE jack the phone is loaded 600 ohm.

Use the L-240 KEY switch to short the PTT.

Select COPILOT PHONE on the cable accessory box.
Repeat step E above.
Select the L-240 OUTPUT switch to INT PHONE.

F. Apply the oscillator output to the L-240 AUDIO INPUT 4 jacks.
Select AUDIO/NORMAL switch to AUDIO.
Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT switch to TR3. (Unmuted audio 3)
Select CABIN 4 OHM on accessory cable box.
Select L-240 OUTPUT switch to SPKR.

Connect the Distortion Analyzer to the L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks.

Select L-240 FUNCTION switch position 1. (Pilot)
Select PILOT PHONE on the cable accessory box.
Select the L-240 OUTPUT switch to PHONE.

Use the L-240 KEY switch to short the PTT.

Connect a 150 ohm load resistor to L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks.

Connect the Distortion Analyzer to the L-240 PHONE jack if not then connect 200 ohm load resistor to L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks. (=150 ohm load)

Select CABIN 4 OHM on accessory cable box.
Select L-240 OUTPUT switch to SPKR.

Connect the Distortion Analyzer to the L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks.

Select L-240 FUNCTION switch position 1. (Pilot)
Select PILOT PHONE on the cable accessory box.
Select the L-240 OUTPUT switch to PHONE.
Use the L-240 KEY switch to short the PTT.

Connect a 150 ohm load resistor to L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks.

Connect the Distortion Analyzer to the L-240 PHONE jack if not then connect 200 ohm load resistor to L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks. (=150 ohm load)

NOTE: with no plug in the PHONE jack the phone is loaded 600 ohm.

Use the L-240 KEY switch to short the PTT.
Select COPILOT PHONE on the cable accessory box.

4. Connect a 150 ohm load resistor to L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks.

5. Select L-240 OUTPUT switch to PHONE.
Select PILOT PHONE on the cable accessory box.

Connect the Distortion Analyzer to the L-240 PHONE jack if not then connect 200 ohm load resistor to L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks. (=150 ohm load)

NOTE: with no plug in the PHONE jack the phone is loaded 600 ohm.

Note: to check Music 1 Right input Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT switch to REC 7
and Do Step B

C. Select COPILOT PHONE on the cable accessory box.

Select L-240 OUTPUT switch to INT PH and connect the Distortion Analyzer to the L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks with 150 ohm load.
DO STEP B

D. Setup as in STEP A except Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT switch to REC 8. (Music 2 left). Apply oscillator # 2 output to L-240 MIKE VOLTAGE jacks and Select FUNCTION switch to position 2. Select L-240 MIKE/GEN switch to MIKE.

DO STEP B and note both signals should be in the output. Select L-240 KEY/'OFF to KEY and the Music should be muted.
NOTE: to check Music 2 Right input Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT switch to REC 9

A. Test Panel and Equipment settings:
2. Apply the oscillator output to the L-240 AUDIO INPUT 1 jacks.
Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT switch to TR1.
Select L-240 FUNCTION switch to position 1.

3. Select CABIN 4 OHM on the cable accessory box.

4. Select L-240 OUTPUT switch to SPKR.

Connect the Distortion Analyzer to the L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks.

B. Use the L-240 KEY switch to short the PTT.

C. Apply the oscillator output to the L-240 MIKE VOLTAGE jacks.
Select L-240 MIKE/GEN to MIKE
Select L-240 OUTPUT switch to PA.

D. Use the L-240 KEY switch to short the PTT.
PA MUTE OUT test jack is on the cable accessory box.

[5.2.3.12] INTERCOM MUTING

. Test Panel and Equipment settings:

2. Apply the oscillator output to the L-240 MIKE VOLTAGE jacks.
Select L-240 FUNCTION switch to position 1. (Pilot)

3. Connect a 150 ohm load resistor to L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks.

4. Select L-240 OUTPUT switch to PHONE.
Select COPILOT PHONE on the cable accessory box.

Connect the Distortion Analyzer to the L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks and 150 ohm load resistor. (200 ohms if no dummy plug in the phone jack for phone output testing only)

B. To measure PASS 1 PHONE OUT select L-240 OUTPUT INT PH.
Use the L-240 KEY/OFF switch to KEY for PTT.

C. Apply the oscillator output to the L-240 AUDIO INPUT 4 jacks.
Select L-240 AUDIO/NORMAL to AUDIO.
Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT switch to position REC 1. (Pass 1 mike in)

Measure PASS 2 OUTPUT on the cable accessory box.

Use the L-240 KEY/OFF switch to KEY for PTT.

D. DO STEP C and Measure PASS 3 and PASS 4 OUTPUT on the cable accessory box

. Test Panel and Equipment settings:

2. Apply the oscillator to L-240 AUDIO INPUT 1 jacks.
Select L-240 AUDIO INPUT TR1.

3. Select CABIN 4 OHM position on the cable accessory box.
Select L-240 OUTPUT to SPKR position.

4. Connect the Distortion Analyzer to L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks.

5. Select L-240 Meter switch to DC AMP position.
Turn off the Lamp Power switch on the side of the cable accessory box.

C. Observe a current draw of 1.5 amps or less on the L-240 panel meter.

D. Connect a 25 ohm load to the L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks.
Select L-240 OUTPUT to PHONE position.

F. Observe a current draw of .5 amps or less on the L-240 panel meter.

2. Connect the generator output to the coaxial cable at the unit end of the test harness.

3. Select L-240 OUTPUT to PHONE position.
Connect 150 ohm load to L-240 AUDIO OUTPUT jacks.

4. Connect the Distortion analyzer to the L-240 PHONE jack.
NOTE
: Marker Audio Input/output is available on the cable accessory box along with the Marker Lamp Out lines.
